I would like to start out by stating that it has been a while since I’ve posted or even blogged about anything, so brace yourselves! Is it me or is there a paranormal recession (parecession)? Granted its summer, but it does seem like the paranormal 500 has slowed a bit. More akin to a leisurely drive on a Sunday. Did the band Wagon riders get too bored? Did the hopes of having their own hit TV series and lecture tour fizzle into obscurity? Was it the dashed hopes of thousands of people that wanted to see an apparition or demon in the flesh? Was it the fact that a man named Brent Fair took peoples hard earned money, and in turn gave them nothing for it? That possibly gave the field a black eye it didn’t deserve, or did it? I was one such victim of Mr. Fairs unfair practices. Although that experience left a bad taste in my mouth, I am still a believer. Only because I witnessed something few have. A vivid true color apparition in broad daylight. I’m digressing a bit here. Why is it slowing? To some, they may not notice it. Others I’m sure notice it and are as curious as I am. Maybe it’s a good thing, because the vested and interested can move on and do some serious investigating. Para groups were popping up everywhere. I’ve even seen high school students forming groups. Some websites look down right demonic, as if they themselves were Satan worshipers. My opinion is who wants some 14 to 17 year old kids tearing up their house? Even worse, people who look like they just got back from a satanic ritual. Not me. So, good riddance to them! Some groups have websites they don’t update. They have news from 6 to 9 months ago. What does that mean? No investigations? No ghosts? Too busy? Losing interest? Your guess is as good as mine. I feel (hope) that soon this will work itself out. A homeowner has a problem, looks on the internet, finds a professional looking website that is updated at least twice a week, contacts them, and an investigation is hopefully born. I know that would be in a perfect world, but once the smoke clears I believe it will be the norm. Nothing irks me more than surfing the web, looking at parasites (ha! that’s a good one!) and finding them neglected and absent of any recent updates. I know this is a non for profit field, but if one wants to know what happens to us when we die, it is important, no, imperative that they maintain the first contact tool for Para groups, the website. I had a friend who co founded a Para group in Florida. Great person. Very involved in all things paranormal, but doesn’t keep up their site! That tells me, if I didn’t know them, that they are either lazy, don’t care, or not an active team. Sorry, digressing again. Is it slowing down because people are noticing the outrageous ticket prices to see someone talk for an hour or two, and then sit down for the rest of the evening? Some of these “professional” investigators are far from being an Ed & Elaine Warren, and yet they are making a living off of an amateur field of study that has a universal agreement to not charge any one for their services. I have done the math, and these Para celebrities make quite a living. That in my opinion is typical of anything that hit’s the mainstream. There will always be the leaches ready to attach themselves to a willing or unwilling host. One thing positive that has occurred , is that it has been put in the face of the public, and some decent and intelligent people have joined in the search for the greatest mystery of all time. I myself am not part of any Para group. I, like others, work incredibly long hours, and have very little time for much anything, let alone Investigating. Although, I do miss it, and meeting new people to have great discussions. That is another subject I could rant about, but for now, I will spare you. I was however briefly part of what I thought was a good team, until I really got to know the founder and all of his misgivings. I don’t know the full, true story (does anyone), but he left a bit of distrust in me. As far as I know, he doesn’t even investigate anymore. That’s fine with me. I even believe he ruined a friendship I had with a member of TAPS. Silly high school games. Well, that’s my rant. I’m sorry if I have offended anyone. I love the paranormal, and am more of a believer than a skeptic, but skepticism is very important to the field of paranormal investigating. I am not, as most of you know, a professional paranormal investigator, nor have I ever played one on TV, ha ha, but I know enough to be critical of a field I love so much. Thanx for reading. :ugeek:
